The story of

The Immortal's Secret

One of my favourite paintings in the Louvre is Titian’s Man with a Glove, created in 1520. The identity of its subject remains a mystery. He may have been a member of the Gonzaga family of Mantua, but his name is lost to time.

This portrait was my inspiration for The Immortal’s Secret. The mystery of the subject's identity, his faraway gaze, and the way he seems to defy mortality through Titian’s brushstrokes inspired me to explore the themes of immortality and the supernatural against the evocative backdrop of the art world.

In its timelessness, art has the unique power to immortalize moments, emotions, and individuals. From a young age, I was captured by the mysterious allure of gothic fiction—notably Dracula and The Picture of Dorian Gray. I was intrigued by this genre’s focus on immortality, inner conflict, moral struggle, and isolation. These themes inspired my writing, creating a rich tapestry from which to explore.

My characters wrestle with the essence of our existence: the challenge of being mortal and vulnerable, pursuing a meaningful life, and the quest to find one person who will offer unconditional love. They are presented the opportunity to slip off the usual path of life that leads to a final destination and join one that is beautiful, circular, and endless. Some accept this Faustian bargain, and their choices and struggles are at the heart of this story.

Writing this book has been a lifelong dream and one of the biggest challenges of my life. Through it all, I’ve had the love and support of so many. Writing can be lonely. On many nights, I would sit alone for hours, sometimes producing nothing. Yet, the next day, I was back at it, driven by something—I’m not sure what. I’m thrilled I can now hold up a completed book.
